Nancy Guthrie case: Authorities believe kidnapping was targeted

Nancy Guthrie case: Authorities believe kidnapping was targeted as search enters seventh week

In a troubling turn of events, authorities now believe they have pinpointed a motive behind the abduction of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of journalist Savannah Guthrie, which has entered its seventh week. Investigators remain optimistic that ‘mixed’ DNA retrieved from the crime scene could lead to a breakthrough.

As the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, continues, the authorities have now come up with a new update. They believe they know the kidnapper’s motive. The search for Nancy is nearly in its seventh week, and no suspects or persons of interest have been identified.

The authorities believe the kidnapping was targeted

In an NBC News interview, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared more about the investigation as Nancy Guthrie remains missing. “We believe we know why (the kidnapper) did this and we believe that it was targeted, but we’re not 100% sure of that,” Nanos said. The sheriff declined to elaborate further on a possible motive, saying, “I think it’s come out from day one. I think day one, we had some strong beliefs about what happened and those beliefs haven’t diminished.”Nanos said investigators remain hopeful that the “mixed” DNA found at Nancy’s Tucson, Ariz, house will lead investigators to “somebody.”

Internet service was disrupted the night Nancy Guthrie went missing

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI were recently seen canvassing the neighborhood. Several neighbors said investigators asked whether they experienced any internet service disruptions the night Nancy went missing, NBC earlier reported.
