Mrunal Thakur on Valentine’s Day wedding with Dhanush

Mrunal Thakur reacts to Valentine’s Day wedding rumours with Dhanush: 'Aaj meri haldi hai, kal sangeet hai'

Dhanush and Mrunal Thakur have been rumoured to be in a relationship for a while now. Last month, the duo grabbed headlines again after reports claimed they had decided to take their relationship to the next level.Several reports suggested that Dhanush and Mrunal were set to get married on February 14, Valentine’s Day. However, in a recent interaction, Mrunal firmly dismissed the speculation.Speaking to Galatta Plus, she said, “No. I think 14th April is going to be the 1st April… 14th Feb is going to be the 1st April. April Fools’ Day. Because I don’t know who started… First of all, I’ve been quoted, but I never said anything. And they just said, ‘Mrunal said so.’ I was like, ‘Wow, how beautiful. It’s scary.'”

“Maine toh kal hi bol diya dhoond lo”

While promoting her film, when asked by India Today whether conversations about her marriage are happening in her family too, Mrunal responded in her trademark candid style.“Maine toh kal hi bol diya dhoond lo. I told them yesterday that find a guy. My father wanted me to find a match, I asked him to do that instead. They said they have no one in mind, so I was like see? (laughs).” She further clarified that she does not believe in getting married just for the sake of it. Drawing a parallel with her character, she said, “Just like my character I also feel that one shouldn’t just get married just for the sake of it. But, when the time is right, when you meet the right match the perfect person, who you can rely on.. be comfortable. Someone whose silence doesn’t even bother you. That time you should go for it.”When reminded that reports claimed she was supposed to be getting married “day after tomorrow”, Mrunal continued the joke. “Guys, aaj meri haldi hai, kal sangeet hai. Please khana kha lena.”

“Love is a beautiful feeling”

Amid the ongoing wedding buzz, Mrunal also opened up about her idea of love during a chat with Filmygyan.”I think love is a beautiful feeling and should happen to each and everyone on this planet. It changes you into a better person. It is literally like reparenting and fixing your inner child issues. It’s like the most beautiful thing in the world. I really pray and hope that everyone finds love in their life,” she said.Mrunal recently shared her first Instagram post since the rumours began circulating. The actor posted a video of herself on a boat, enjoying the sunset and sea breeze. With her wavy hair left open, she was seen gazing at the serene surroundings. In the caption, she wrote, “Grounded, glowing and unshaken!”

How the rumours began

Dating rumours involving Mrunal and Dhanush first surfaced in August 2025, when she was seen warmly greeting the Tamil star at the premiere of her film Son of Sardaar 2. A video of the moment quickly went viral. Her presence at the wrap party of Dhanush’s film Tere Ishk Mein had earlier fuelled further speculation. However, neither Mrunal nor Dhanush has ever confirmed or acknowledged the relationship reports. Dhanush was previously married to director Aishwarya Rajinikanth, daughter of superstar Rajinikanth. The couple parted ways in 2022 after 18 years of marriage and share two sons, Linga and Yatra.
