PEOPLE reported that Kenneth Iwamasa was sentenced to 3 years in jail for supplying Matthew Perry with ketamine. He was also served with a fine worth USD 10,000, along with a 2-year probation period as well. The 60-year-old, who formerly worked as the ‘Friends’ star’s assistant, pleaded guilty during the case investigation.Suzanne Morrison and Keith Morrison were both present during his official sentencing.During the sentencing, Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett told Iwamasa, “You knew about his struggle with addiction. Your actions were reckless, not just on the day he died but in the days before. There is no hard evidence that you acted with malicious intent, though some would disagree.”Earlier, his lawyer had argued for a 6-month sentence along with 6 months spent at home confinement. They had cited that the man was only following orders and was not in a position to say no. However, the judge presiding over the case cited that he could have said no. Iwamasa was the last person to see Perry alive and was also the one who found him at his home.

Kenneth Iwamasa expresses his remorse over what happened

After the final sentencing was served, Iwamasa stood and apologized for his actions that led to Matthew Perry’s demise. He stated during the hearing that “I’m so sorry to all of you. You all know how much Matthew loved you. I’m so sorry to have done illegal acts. I will forever regret it and I will take it to my grave and be a cautionary tale and make better choices than I did. I’m horribly, horribly sorry and I offer my condolences to you.”
