Matthew Perry’s ‘Friends’ items to be auctioned for charity

Matthew Perry’s ‘Friends’ scripts, Batman watch and other personal items head to auction for addiction recovery charity

Several valuables from the estate of Matthew Perry are set to go under the hammer at a charity auction, with items ranging from signed ‘Friends’ scripts to an original Banksy artwork expected to fetch more than $800,000. The auction will be held on June 5 by Heritage Auctions and will benefit the Matthew Perry Foundation, which was established after the actor’s passing to destigmatise addiction and aid in recovery from substance abuse.According to Variety, the auction is set to feature an extraordinary range of items from Perry’s personal collection, offering fans a rare chance to own a piece of television history. Perry, who played Chandler Bing on ‘Friends’ from 1994 to 2004, passed away in 2023 at the age of 54. He had struggled with addiction for much of his life, and the foundation set up in his name continues to carry forward his belief that addiction should be treated with compassion rather than judgment.

The auction features a remarkable collection of items, many of which will be of significant interest to ‘Friends’ fans worldwide. Here is a full look at everything going under the hammer:

4. Yellow peephole frame replica

How the auction will support the Matthew Perry Foundation

In a statement to the outlet, Lisa Kasteler Calio, chief executive of the Matthew Perry Foundation, spoke about the significance of the sale. “Matthew believed addiction should be met with compassion and science, not stigma and silence,” she said. “This auction fuels the foundation’s work to expand access to evidence-based care and confront stigma. It is one more way we ensure that no one has to fight this disease alone.”The auction site opened on Tuesday. The items will be on display in Beverly Hills from May 18 to 29 before the auction takes place on June 5 at Heritage Auctions’ Dallas showroom, with bidding also available online. All net proceeds will go directly to initiatives supported by the Matthew Perry Foundation.Disclaimer: Figures presented in this article are derived from various public sources and are considered approximate unless explicitly noted.
