‘Masti 4’ box office collection day 3

'Masti 4' box office collection day 3: The Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh film has a dull opening weekend, misses the Rs 10 crore mark

‘Masti 4’ released on Friday, October 21 in theatres and the film clashed at the box office with Farhan Akhtar’s ‘120 Bahadur’. Both the movies had a dull opening at the box office on day 1 and one had expected to see growth over Saturday and Sunday. However, that doesn’t seem to have happened and in fact, last week’s release ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ is actually dominating over both these films. The The Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani starrer had an opening of Rs 2.75 crore on Day 1, Friday. The film maintained the same figure even on Saturday. On Sunday, day 3, it saw a slight growth and made Rs 3 crore. The total collection of the movie so far, according to Sacnilk, is Rs 8.50 crore. So, it missed even making Rs 10 crore in the span of three days which is a low number. Adult comedies, on the other hand, rely heavily on opening-day momentum, since weekend growth is usually limited. At this pace, the movie’s numbers will end up falling short of the previous instalment in the franchise, ‘Great Grand Masti’ (2016), which managed to collect 8.50 crore nett over its opening weekend. However, ‘120 Bahadur’ has done better than ‘Masti 4’ as it saw some growth over the weekend due to positive word of mouth. The Farhan Akhtar film opened at Rs 2.25 crore but went on to make Rs 3.85 crore on Saturday and then Rs 4crore on Sunday. The film’s total collection is now Rs 10.10 crore in the first three days. The film saw a reasonable jump on Saturday, but considering its weak opening, it really needed a far bigger push — something that was unlikely to materialise. A war drama demands larger-than-life personalities, and without performers who can carry that weight, the chances of success diminish, which is exactly the case here, according to Box Office India. Day 1 [1st Friday] ₹ 2.75 Cr -Day 2 [1st Saturday] ₹ 2.75 Cr Day 3 [1st Sunday] ₹ 3.00 Cr * early estimates -Total ₹ 8.50 Cr
