Mammootty receives third doctorate honour; Malayalam cinema icon misses Padma Bhushan ceremony

Malayalam cinema icon Mammootty added another proud achievement to his legendary journey after receiving an honorary doctorate from Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam. The prestigious honour was presented by Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar during the university’s grand convocation ceremony. Mammootty was recognised for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema over several decades. The actor attended the event in a simple and elegant traditional outfit, receiving huge applause from students, guests, and faculty members present at the ceremony.

MG University honours Mammootty for contribution to Indian cinema

Mammootty received the honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) degree for his remarkable contribution to cinema and culture. The university also honoured renowned nadaswaram artist Thiruvizha Jayashankar and vascular surgeon N Radhakrishnan during the same event. Speaking after receiving the honour, Mammootty shared a heartfelt message on social media. “Humbled to have received the Honorary D.Litt. from Mahatma Gandhi University today, presented by the Honourable Governor of Kerala. My gratitude to each and every one of you who stood by my side throughout this memorable journey,” he wrote. His emotional note quickly went viral among fans online.

Third Doctorate marks another milestone in Mammootty’s career

This is the third honorary doctorate received by Mammootty in his career. Earlier, he had received similar honours from the University of Kerala and the University of Calicut. The veteran actor has remained one of the biggest names in Indian cinema for over four decades and has acted in more than 400 films across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages. He is also a three-time National Award winner and has earned several state awards and Filmfare honours throughout his long cinematic journey.

Mammootty misses Padma Bhushan ceremony atter university honour

Mammootty received the prestigious Padma Bhushan from the Government of India. However, a buzz circulating on social media claims that the actor could not attend the Padma Awards ceremony after participating in the MG University event. But Mammootty hasn’t yet clarified on missing the mega event. The latest doctorate honour has once again highlighted Mammootty’s unmatched contribution to Indian cinema and his continued influence even after decades in the industry.
