She captioned it, ‘Had such a great time chatting with the Oscar winner, the maestro director Bong Joon-ho. His films hv always stirred something deep within me, from the raw intensity of SnowPiercer to the layered brilliance of Parasite. Truly inspired. #parasite #snowpiercer #bongjoonho #oscarwinner.’

Fans react to the viral post

As soon as she shared the photos, likes and comments poured in from all sides. While one user wrote, ‘One of the sexiest people in the world meets Mallika Sherawat’, another one added, ‘Most sensible and intelligent artist we don’t see often now in Bollywood’. A user also commented, ‘Spectacular snap’.

Mallika on her difficult childhood

In an old interview with Hauterfly, Mallika spoke about how her birth was mourned and not celebrated. She had shared, “When I was born, mere parivaar mein maatam chhaa gaya tha (there was mourning in my family). They wanted a boy. My mother must have gone into depression because of it. Imagine giving birth, and instead of joy, you see sadness on everyone’s faces.”Elaborating further, she added, “I didn’t have anybody’s support. Neither my mother, nor my father supported me. My family did not support me.”

She calls out patriarchy among women

Mallika also stressed on the fact that women often play a significant role in perpetuating these societal norms. “How men have treated women is a different thing, but what about how the women treat other women? Women continue to tie other women by the peg of patriarchy and close all the doors. They don’t open the doors for other women.”
