Mahvash recalls battling depression after fiance cheated thrice

RJ Mahvash recalls battling depression and ‘hallucinating’ after fiance cheated on her thrice at 19: ‘He even cheated on his pregnant wife’

RJ Mahvash, who made headlines over rumours surrounding her relationship with cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and their viral appearances together, recently opened up about one of the most painful phases of her life.In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Mahvash revealed that her engagement had broken off when she was just 19 years old after her fiance cheated on her multiple times. The content creator recalled how the betrayal pushed her into depression and severely impacted her mental health.

RJ Mahvash says she went into depression after fiance cheated on her

Speaking about the difficult phase, Mahvash revealed that she had met her former fiancé through Facebook. According to her, he was a very influential and well-known person in Aligarh, and she had even fought with her family to marry him.Recalling her emotional state at the time, she said, “I was 19 years old and deeply in love with him. I used to feel there could not be anyone better than him. I would even tell my family that if I could not marry him, I would run away.”However, things took a painful turn when she discovered that he had cheated on her — not once, but three times.“That person cheated on me not once or twice, but three times. I kept forgiving him every time. Then I realised this had become a loop and it was never going to end,” she shared.Mahvash admitted that she struggled to even talk about the situation with her family and therapists because of the fear of judgment in a small town like Aligarh.

‘I started hallucinating because of heavy medication’

Opening up about the impact the heartbreak had on her mental health, Mahvash revealed that she went into depression and had to take heavy medication due to panic attacks.“I was taking so many medicines that I started hallucinating. The heavy doses of injections and pills had a deep effect on me. I would imagine things around me and feel like someone was coming even when nobody was there,” she recalled. She further shared that her friends became her biggest support system during that difficult time and helped her come out of the emotional turmoil.“That is probably why I value friendship so much today. My friends remind me how lost and disturbed I used to be back then,” she said.

RJ Mahvash says her ex called her ‘mental patient’

Mahvash also revealed that despite everything, she initially believed that the same person who broke her heart could also help heal it. She eventually gathered the courage to tell him about her deteriorating condition, but his response became the turning point for her.“I told him that I was hospitalised and going through so much, and he did not even come to meet me. He replied saying, ‘You are crazy. If my family finds out that you are a mental patient, what will happen?’” she recalled. The statement deeply affected her, making her realise how toxic the relationship had become.“That line hit me hard. The person because of whom I was in the hospital and taking medicines was calling me mentally unstable. That is when I realised this was not right,” Mahvash shared. She added that leaving Aligarh also became necessary for her healing journey, as she no longer wanted to keep seeing him around.Looking back now, Mahvash believes that whatever happened ultimately saved her from a much bigger problem in life.“That person is now divorced because he cheated on his pregnant wife too. It is a pattern with him. He can never change,” she said. Go to Source
