Ashwin Kumar’s mythological animation, Mahavatar Narimsha, continues its successful run, exceeding Rs 249 crore in its seventh week. The film’s Hindi version significantly contributes to its box office dominance, becoming the 50th highest-grossing Hindi film ever. Its success has paved the way for new Indian mythological animation projects, including Vayuputra and Kurukshetra, potentially revolutionizing the industry.

The mythological animation drama directed by Ashwin Kumar, Mahavatar Narimsha continues to show resistance at the box office as the film is going strong even in its seventh week. The film as per Sacnilk had minted Rs 21 lakh on its 48th day at the cinema halls and with that the film has breached the Rs 249 crore mark. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 249.05 crore and with the weekend coming by, the film would be hopeful to take the collection well past the Rs 250 crore mark. The reimagined story of Lord Narsimha, Bhakt Prabhlad and Hiranyakashyap has already become the highest grossing animation of India and as it crosses the Rs 250 crore mark- it will be the first animation film to do so. The film was released in multiple languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and it hit the theaters a week after the release of Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s Saiyaara. Its Hindi version has been the major engine for its dominance at the box office. The Hindi version has contributed Rs 186.95 crore in 48 days and has become the 50th highest grossing Hindi film of all time. While the Kannada’s version has contributed Rs 9.72 crore, Telugu version is at Rs 48.96 crore , Tamil at Rs 2.86 crore and Malayalam version at Rs 56 lakh. The success of Mahavatar Narimsha has opened the floodgates for Indian Mythology animation. On Wednesday itself two major animation projects were announced one was on Lord Hanuman called Vayuputra releasing on Dusshera 2026 and other being an animation series called Kuruskshetra- a reimagined version of The Mahabharata.
