The mythological animation film Mahavatar Narsimha, directed by Ashwin Kumar has scripted a new chapter in Hindi cinema’s box office history. With its Hindi version amassing Rs 184.39 crore in 40 days, the film has officially secured the 50th spot among the biggest Hindi hits of all time, surpassing Kartik Aaryan’s 2022 blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which stood at Rs 184.32 crore.Though released in multiple languages, it is the Hindi version that has acted as the engine of Mahavatar Narsimha’s stellar run, powering the film into the elite list of blockbusters. Its pan-India appeal and strong word of mouth have ensured sustained footfalls, with collections showing remarkable consistency even after the initial weeks, the total collection of the film stands at Rs 24515 crore.
A Strong 40-Day Run
The film’s Hindi journey has been marked by both big jumps and solid holds across weekdays. After opening on a low note, Mahavatar Narsimha saw strong growth where at the end of 40 days the collection has now reached Rs 184.39 crore going past not only Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 but also Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s Bajirao Mastani which had collected Rs 184.3 crore.
Hindi Version Drives Success
While the film has performed well in regional belts too, the Hindi box office has been the prime driver of its success story. Out of the movie’s overall tally of Rs 245.15 crore net, nearly 75% has come from the Hindi version alone, underscoring its wide acceptance among North Indian audiences. This feat is significant given the stiff competition from other ongoing releases like Saiyaara, War 2 , Coolie and currently Param Sundari.
Benchmark Achievement
Crossing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 holds symbolic value. Kartik Aaryan’s horror-comedy was one of the first big post-pandemic Bollywood blockbusters and enjoyed a strong recall among audiences. For Mahavatar Narsimha to edge past it, even narrowly, cements its place as a cultural and commercial phenomenon.
A Blockbuster Tag Secured
Trade circles have declared Mahavatar Narsimha a blockbuster, given its massive pan-India net of Rs 245.15 crore and worldwide numbers are still climbing. For its makers, the Hindi box office milestone is an especially proud moment, as it demonstrates the film’s crossover ability and universal resonance. Go to Source
