Mahavatar Narsimha beats Salaar as 7th Hindi dubbed film

‘Mahavatar Narsimha’ beats Prabhas’s ‘Salaar: Part 1 Ceasefire’ to become the 7th highest Hindi dubbed grosser

Mahavatar Narsimha achieved a significant milestone. The Hindi version outpaced Salaar’s earnings. It became the seventh-highest-grossing Hindi dubbed film. This success highlights the film’s content strength. It also shows audience acceptance. The film survived a clash with Coolie and War 2 releases. Mahavatar Narsimha’s total collection reached Rs 210.5 crore.

Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavatar Narsimha has pulled off a remarkable feat at the Hindi box office. The mythological action epic, released in multiple languages, has seen its Hindi version race ahead of expectations. In 24 days, the film has collected Rs 159.6 crore net, surpassing Prabhas’s Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire (Rs 153.84 crore) to become the seventh-highest-grossing Hindi dubbed release of all time. This milestone is particularly significant because Salaar, backed by director Prashanth Neel and Prabhas’s star power , was one of the most hyped films of 2023 and a major pan-India event. For Mahavatar Narsimha to go past it in less than a month highlights both the strength of its content and its wide acceptance across Hindi-speaking audiences. Also Mahavatar Narsimha went to survive the clash that took place on 14th August with the release of Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Hrithik Roshan,Jr Ntr and Kiara Advani’s War. Both films together earned more than Rs 360 crore over the past 4 days. The updated ranking of all-time top Hindi dubbed grossers now stands as follows:

  1. Pushpa 2-The Rule : Rs 830.10 crore
  2. Baahubali 2 -The Conclusion :Rs 510.99 crore
  3. KGF- Chapter 2 : Rs 434.70 crore
  4. Kalki 2989 AD : Rs 294.25 crore
  5. RRR :Rs 274.31 crore
  6. 2.0 :Rs 189.55 crore
  7. Mahavatar Narsimha :Rs 159.6 crore (24 days)
  8. Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire :Rs 153.84 crore
  9. Saaho : Rs 142.95 crore

The success of Mahavatar Narsimha is being seen as a turning point for mythological big-screen spectacles in India. While pan-India films with heavy action and mass appeal have traditionally dominated the dubbed market, this film has shown that audiences are equally willing to embrace stories rooted in mythology if they are presented with scale and conviction. The film’s overall collection stands at RS 210.5 crore making it the only animation film in India to cross the Rs 200 crore mark. And with the daily collections of both War 2 and Coolie dropping Mahavatar Narsimha can turn out to be the silent winner of the clash.
