Madras HC rejects Tamannaah Bhatia’s Rs 1 crore plea

Madras High Court upholds rejection of Tamannaah Bhatia’s Rs 1 crore compensation plea

The Madras High Court has upheld a previous ruling, refusing Tamannaah Bhatia’s appeal regarding an expired endorsement deal. The actress claimed her images were used without consent after her contract with Power Soaps Limited ended in 2009, impacting new opportunities. She sought ₹1 crore compensation, but both single and division benches rejected her plea.

The Madras High Court on Thursday refused to accept the appeal filed by Tamannaah Bhatia. She had challenged an earlier order that had already dismissed her plea. As per latest reports, the division bench said it would not alter the previous decision and upheld the single judge’s order.

Dispute over expired endorsement deal

As per TOI Chennai, the ‘Baahubali’ actress stated that she had signed an agreement with Power Soaps Limited on October 7, 2008. Under the deal, she had agreed to promote their products only until October 6, 2009. She later discovered that her images were still being used even after the contract had expired. She claimed this came to light when she was in talks with another company in 2010.

Allegations of unauthorized image use

According to her, the company used her photographs on soap wrappers manufactured in November 2010 and February 2011. She alleged that this was done without her consent. Tamannaah Bhatia claimed that the unauthorized use of her image impacted her new endorsement opportunities.

Legal notices and compensation claim

She further stated that legal notices were sent to the company as well as J&D Communication Private Limited on January 18, 2011, and February 1, 2011. However, she claimed that the responses were unclear. Following this, she filed a case seeking Rs 1 crore as compensation. However, both the single judge and now the division bench have rejected her plea, effectively closing the matter by upholding the earlier order.

On the work front

Tamannaah Bhatia was last seen in O Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, where she made a special appearance. She was also seen in a full-fledged role in the 2025 supernatural thriller Odela 2. Up next, she will be seen opposite Sidharth Malhotra in the action film Ranger. Go to Source
