‘Madharaasi’ BO: Sivakarthikeyan’s film aims for Rs 30 crore globally

Madharaasi's box office collection on day 1 (live): Sivakarthikeyan's film starts strong, aims for Rs 30 crore globally

Sivakarthikeyan and A.R. Murugadoss’ film ‘Madharaasi’ has hit the theaters today (Sep 5). Although there was not much excitement about the film before its release, after the release of the trailer, fan expectations increased, leading to a lively atmosphere created in theaters. The enthusiasm was clearly reflected in the first-day box office attendance and bookings. The film has had a strong start, with fans flocking to the theaters in large numbers.

‘Madharaasi’ targets ₹30 crore global opening

‘Madharaasi’ has set a record in booking collections. According to One India, the first-day booking collection has crossed Rs. 20 crore. Out of this, it is said that up to Rs. 16 crore has been collected in Tamil Nadu alone. As per a trade report from Sacnilk, ‘Madharaasi’ has grossed around Rs 10 crore in India till noon. The final opening day collection of the film is likely to be around Rs 30 crore globally, while the film might add over Rs 22 crore in Tamil Nadu. The first day’s screenings in major cities like Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, and Trichy were all ‘house full.’ The initial collections of ‘Madharaasi’ have surprised trade circles, as the film has received a good response overseas as well.

Reasons behind the hype for ‘Madharaasi’

Three main reasons are cited for this box office success. One is Sivakarthikeyan’s fan base. Leaving aside his status as an actor in family stories, ‘Madharaasi’ is a great testament to the fact that even after becoming an action hero, the fans’ enthusiasm for him has not diminished. Second, the anticipation for AR Murugadoss’ comeback. Since it was the director’s next release after the failure of ‘Sikander’ and Tamil’s come back after 5 years, the fans were paying more attention. Third, the strong backing with Vidyut Jammwal, Rukmani Vasanth, Biju Menon, Vikranth, and others in key roles, and the music composed by Anirudh, raised the bar for the film.
