According to a report by Mid-day, during a recent success meet, the film’s lyricist Anantha Sriram spoke about the criticism faced by Buchi Babu Sana. He said he was disappointed that the director felt the need to apologise for his creative choices.He shared that filmmakers should have the freedom to create characters and tell stories based on their own vision. He suggested that increasing pressure from social media reactions is making things more difficult for creators. He also questioned whether directors today are getting enough freedom to express their ideas without facing immediate public criticism.

For the unversed, the issue began after several viewers criticized the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor’s character in the film. Many internet users shared that certain scenes and camera angles focused only on the actress body rather than focusing on the character’s meaningful role in the story. Following the outburst, Buchi Babu Sana responded with a public statement. He said the team never intended to disrespect or objectify women. The director also assured audiences that some of the controversial scenes would be edited or removed from the film. Buchi Babu Sana later explained that his intention was to show the lead character’s rural background and raw personality. He said the scenes were designed to reflect the character’s mindset and not to disrespect women. However, he also acknowledged that some audiences interpreted the scenes differently and accepted their concerns.

Speaking about the film, ‘Peddi’ tells the story of Ram Charan’s character ‘Peddi’ who is an elite sportsman who plays cricket for a daily wage. His life turns after an incident and he chooses sports to fight for the identity of his people. He takes part in professional wrestling and sprint races. In 11 days, the film’s worldwide gross collection stands at Rs 307.98 crore according to Sacnilk.
