Last year, Lola Young made headlines when she collapsed on stage mid-performance in September. Soon after, she canceled all of her future concerts and apologized to fans as she had to prioritize her health. She made her return to the stage only a few days earlier, and now he’s already on her way to creating history as she won her first Grammy Award. During the speech, the musician gave the audience a health update on how the journey has been for her for the past few months.

The British singer scored her first-ever Grammy award on Sunday for her song titled ‘Messy.’ As she got up on stage to accept her award for best pop solo performance, Young could not help but get emotional.

The singer started talking about how hard it has been for her to get back up on stage ever since her health scare last year. She added, “This industry is a very difficult industry to be in. I took the time out to get better because there were a lot of things going on in my head, in my personal life, and we constantly have to be protected as artists,” She said, further adding that, “I had to make the decision to do it for myself — to be kind to myself and give myself space. ”However, she further revealed that she is feeling much better and is ready to perform again and again in the future.

The singer also talked about her Grammy-winning song as well, sharing that the song represents what it means to be a human being and not feeling like you are enough for the world around you. Young had collapsed in the middle of her performance at the New York All Things Go festival in September last year. Following her collapse, she issued an official statement about how she is taking a step back from the industry. She cited that she needs to take a break in order to rest and recover. She also apologized to all of her fans who had been waiting to see her. Young made her official return to the stage last week at Spotify’s showcase and performed ‘Penny Out of Nothing’, ‘Post Sex Clarity’, and ‘Dealer.’
