'Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra' box office collections day 34: Film slows down; Struggles to reach Rs 150 cr mark

‘Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra’ starring Kalyani Priyadarshan is now showing signs of slowing down after an impressive run at the box office for more than a month. The Dominic Arun directorial has entered its fifth week in theatres, but the collections are dipping as it struggles to cross the crucial Rs 150 crore milestone.

Box office of ‘Lokah’ slips in week 5

According to early estimates by the Sacnilk website, ‘Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra’ earned Rs 1.50 crore net on Day 34 (Tuesday) across all languages. This had added up more amount to the collections, bringing its total to Rs 148.85 crore in India.Reportedly, the film had collected an estimated Rs 147.35 crore in its first 33 days, meaning it has managed to add just Rs 1.5 crore more on the 34th day.

The fifth weekend had shown some recovery with Rs 85 lakhs on Friday, Rs 1.6 crore on Saturday, and Rs 2 crore on Sunday, but the weekdays have slowed down again.

Malayalam market still holding

According to the reports, on Tuesday, the movie recorded an overall 34.22% occupancy in Malayalam theatres. The highest turnout was during night shows at 44.04%. Morning shows saw lower occupancy at 19.83%.

A stellar journey for Kalyani

Despite the slowdown, Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra has already established itself as one of Kalyani Priyadarshan’s most successful films. Recently the actress shared an Instagram note, when the film entered Rs 200 crores worldwide (as per the makers). A part of her note read, “Yesterday, our film reached a number that was only possible because of you, the audience. I’m beyond speechless, and truly beyond grateful for the love being showered on this film. In our industry, content has always been king, the biggest star of all – and once again, you’ve proved that to us.
