Kalyani Priyadarshan’s ‘Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra’ fails to beat Mahavatar Narsimha as the second highest 5th week collection of 2025

Dulquer Salmaan-backed “Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra” has become the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever, surpassing ₹150 crore at the box office. This female-led blockbuster also holds the record for highest footfalls in 21st-century Malayalam cinema. With no immediate OTT release planned, the film aims for ₹175 crore. A sequel, starring Tovino Thomas, has already been announced, expanding this cinematic universe.

Over the past 5 weeks Dulquer Salmaan backed and Dominic Arun directed the film, Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra, headlined by Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen has been creating havoc at the box office . In these 36 days the film has gone to become the highest grossing Malatalm film of all time beating Manjummel Boys,the film has also become the highest grossing female film led from south of India and 2nd highest grossing female led film of India beating Kangana Ranaut’s Tanu Weds Manu Returns. The film has also gone on to become the films with the highest footfalls of any Malayalam film in the 21st century. The film has achieved so much in these past 5 weeks but the film failed to beat Mahavtar Narimsha’s 5th week record. Ashwin Kumar’s animation giant had gone on to mint Rs 19.5 crore at the box office in the 5th week, it is the 2nd highest 5th week grossing collection after Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava which had collected Rs 33.5 crore.

Kalyani Priyadarshan’s ‘Lokah – Chapter One’ Becomes Highest-Grossing Malayalam Film With ₹278 Crore

In the fifth week Lokah collected Rs 9.75 crore which helped in taking the total collection fo the film beyond Rs 150 crore mark, setting standards for all future Malayalam films. And with Dulquer announcing on social media that he’s in no rush to release the film on OTT platform anytime soon, the film will be in theaters for many more weeks and Dulquer would be hoping that the film crosses Rs 175 crore mark in India by then. Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra is part of a 5 part series and on the 30th day of it’s release he announced the second part of the film which will be led by Tovino Thomas in a dual role. Dulquer will also be making a cameo appearance in the film and it will be once again directed by Dominic Arun.
