‘Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra’ box office collections Day 13: Kalyani Priyadarshan’s film races past Rs 90 crore mark

‘Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra’, the fantasy drama starring Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead, has continued its golden run at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film raced past the Rs 90 crore mark as it neared the end of its second week at the box office. The film’s India net collection now stands at an estimated Rs 93.65 crore.

Strong opening for ‘Lokah’

The film opened with a strong collection of Rs 2.7 crore on Day 1. Later, due to WOM, the film quickly picked up its pace at the ticket windows. It reached double digits by its first Sunday with a Rs 10.1 crore haul and went on to close its opening week with a solid Rs 54.7 crore.On its second weekend at the box office, the film earned an estimated Rs 27.8 crore. After hitting double digits for its second weekend, the film saw its collections drop by 50% on Monday, earning just around Rs 5.9 crore, while Tuesday’s collections of Rs 5.25 crore took its overall week 2 collection to an estimated Rs 38.95 crore.

Strong hold in the Malayalam market

On Tuesday, September 9, the film recorded an impressive 53.42% overall occupancy in Malayalam theatres. Evening and night shows, in particular, drew big crowds, with 63.81% and 70.99% occupancy, respectively.

About the film

Actors Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslen K. Gafoor, Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, and Vijayaraghavan play the lead roles in the film directed by Dominic Arun and co-scripted by the actress Santhy Balachandran. The project is already a hit as it was reportedly mounted on Rs 30 crore budget. Produced under Dulquer Salmaan’s banner, the film has also drawn attention from Bollywood celebrities. Recently, Alia Bhatt and Akshay Kumar praised the project on social media, commending its world-building and visual style.
