Dulquer Salmaan and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s ‘Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra’ mints over Rs 156 crore in 50 days

Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen’s ‘Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra’ has achieved a monumental Rs 156 crore in 50 days, rewriting Malayalam cinema history. This film, backed by Dulquer Salmaan, has become the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever and a massive hit in Kerala. Its success has paved the way for a five-film universe, with sequels planned featuring Tovino Thomas and Mammootty.

Dulquer Salmaan and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s ‘Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra’ mints Rs 156 crore in 50 days

Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra, headlined by Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen, backed by Dulquer Salmaan and directed by Domnic Arun will go down in history books as one of the tide changing films of Malayalam cinema. The film since the day of its release has been steamrolling records to make place for itself, it started with it becoming the highest grossing female led from south of India to becoming the second biggest female led film of India to becoming the highest grossing Malayalam film of all times to becoming the biggest hit in Kerala. And now it has achieved a rare feat of completing 50 days at cinema halls. The film in its 50 day run has minted Rs 156.02 crore with Malayalam version contributing Rs 122.02 crore.

When the film released no one, not even the producer Dulquer was sure that the film would turn a profit but the film’s success left everyone speechless. The film in its first week minted Rs 54.7 crore across languages to add Rs 47 crore in the second week. In the third week the film added Rs 27.1 crore and fourth week collections stood at Rs 13.25 crore. In the fifth week the collections dropped to Rs 9.8 crore and in the sixth week clocked in only Rs 2.95 crore and at the end of 50 days the total collection of the film stands at Rs 156.02 crore.

Lokah: Part 1- Chandra is a part of a 5 film universe, around 20 days ago Dulquer announced the second part of the film which will be led by Tovino Thomas who made a cameo performance in the first part. Tovino will be playing a dual role in the film and Dulquer would be making a cameo appearance. The third part would be led by Dulquer and fourth is said to be headlined by Mammootty and in the fifth part all of them would be coming together.
