Everyone likes an underdog story, where someone who is least expected to perform comes out as a winner. This exactly has happened with Dulquer Salmaan backed, Dominic Arun directed and headlined by Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslen and Tovino Thomas, Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra. The film has completed 23 days at the box office and its total collection stands at Rs 130.38 crore. But a closer look at the collection reveals its biggest achievement. The film has had releases in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages. The film’s original language Malayalam has been the engine of the film’s collection. And on the 23rd day of it’s release the film has gone past the Rs 100 crore mark. And with that the film has become only the third film in the history of Malayalam cinema to cross Rs 100 crore mark in its home language. Before Lokah, the first two films to achieve this milestone were Mohanlal’s Thudarum whose total collection stands at Rs 122 crore Of the final collection, the Malayalam version contributed Rs 118.6 crore while Telugu version contributed Rs 1.98 crore and Tamil version contributed Rs 1.42 crore. And the first film ever to cross the Rs 100 crore mark was director Chidambaram S Podvul’s Manjummel Boys which only releases in Malayalam and Telugu the film went on to collect Rs 142.08across languages with Rs 130.25 crore coming from Malayalam version. Lokah has had many achievements in its 23 day journey from becoming the highest grossing female led film from South of India beating Keerthy Suresh’s Mahanati to become the 12 highest grossing film of 2025. But the journey for the film is not yet over, it still has long legs at the box office and could challenge for the top spot in the days to come.
