Lokah beats Raazi to become the 4th highest grossing female led film

Kalyani Priyadarshan’s ‘Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra’ beats Alia Bhatt’s Raazi to become the 4th highest grossing female led film of Indian Cinema

Dulquer Salmaan’s production, ‘Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra,’ starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, is achieving remarkable success. The film has become the second highest-grossing Malayalam film and the first South Indian female-led film to surpass ₹100 crore. It now ranks fourth among the highest-grossing female-led Indian films, surpassing Alia Bhatt’s ‘Raazi,’ solidifying Malayalam cinema’s rising prominence.

Dulquer Salmaan backed Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra headlined by Kalyani Priyadarshan and directed by Dominic Arun continues to break records with each passing day. The film in its 21 day run at the box office has already become the second highest grossing Malayalam film of all time. If that is not all , it has also become the first female led film from South Indian cinema to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. And now the film has put another feature in its cap as it breaches into the list of Top 5 women led films of all time in Indian Cinema. In 21 days that the film has been running at the box office the film has collected Rs 126.90 crore as per Sacnilk, thereby occupying the 4th spot in the list of highest grossing female led films of Indian Cinema. The spot was earlier held by Alia Bhatt’s Raazi which co-starred Vicky Kaushal and directed by Megha Gulzar. The film backed by Karan Johar was based on the book Calling Sehmat by Harinder Singh Sikka. The film had gone on to mint Rs 123.74 crore at the box office in its lifetime run. It was also the film which established Alia as a breakout star as the film ran completely on her shoulders. Lokah is the part of the 5 part series actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan has put together to form the first ‘Universe’ of Malayalam Cinema. With the way trends are showing for the film, it would be crossing the Rs 135 crore mark probably and fly the flag of Malayalam cinema high as one of the most exciting cinema industries in the country. The second installment of the film would be featuring Tovino Thomas- he played a cameo role in the first part. The third part would be headlined by Dulquer Salmaan and fourth would have Mammootty playing the lead. Alia would be next seen in Aditya Chopra’s Alpha with Bobby Deol and Sharvai, post which she has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
