Lata Ji’s song plays during VS fashion show – WATCH

Victoria's Secret: Lata Mangeshkar's 'Tere Mere Beech Mein' plays during fashion show, Desi fans STUNNED by Bollywood touch

A video from the Victoria’s Secret fashion show has surprised Desi fans, especially because of its Bollywood touch that seemed to have gone unnoticed until now.

Models strut to Lata’s song

During one of the show’s runway segments, the background music struck a nostalgic chord with Indian fans, thanks to a classic Lata Mangeshkar track. The iconic “Tere Mere Beech Mein” from the 1981 Bollywood film ‘Ek Duuje Ke Liye’, played during the show and left Desi viewers both surprised and thrilled. The moment went viral after fashion page Diet Sabya shared a clip from the event with the caption, “Not VS using ‘Tere Mere Beech Mein,’ the original sample of Britney’s Toxic.”

About Britney Spears’ Toxic

For those unaware, Britney Spears’ 2003 global hit “Toxic” famously sampled a portion of the riff of the track sung by Lata Mangeshkar and S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, and composed by Laxmikant–Pyarelal. The song then went on to play Britney’s ‘Toxic’.

While another commented, “It’d be lit if an Indian model would have walked while this track on, they could keep Neelam Gill on the line up.” Still another said, “Desi representation at its BEST.”The show is a mix of music and celebrities, with Madison Beer sporting pink wings performing “Make You Mine” with lingerie-clad models strutting on the catwalk. K-pop group TWICE hit the runway too, performing “This is For” and “Strategy.” Karol G sang “Ivonny Bonita” before she walked solo in red wings and lingerie ensemble. It was livestreamed on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Prime Video in the U.S.
