Lakshya on Aryan’s bold jail joke: Never expected it

'The Ba***ds of Bollywood': Lakshya reacts to Aryan Khan including bold jail joke in directorial debut; admits he 'never expected' it

Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, set fans on social media abuzz with excitement about his directorial debut with the web series ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’.

Aryan’s viral jail scene

The young director received praise for the trailers that featured plenty of action, humour, one particularly interesting scene that was seemingly taken from a page in Aryan’s life. Following the trailer debut, a cryptic jail scene that features Lakshya’s character Aasmaan Singh behind bars went viral for what fans claimed was a diss at Aryan’s jail stint during investigations in a drugs case. The scene in question saw a police officer telling Aasmaan, “Tension nahi lene ka, andar ja ke log aur bhi famous ho jaate hai (Don’t stress, people become more famous after going to jail).” The scene follows with Aryan’s credit as writer and director.

Lakshya reacts to jail scene in trailer

In an interview with SCREEN, leading man Lakshya was asked about the first-time filmmaker’s self-deprecating humour in the viral jail scene. When asked whether that came as a surprise, he admitted, “I didn’t have any hopes that he was going to have jokes like these in the show.”

On Aryan’s sense of humour

Explaining his first impressions of Khan, he said, “he seems like that tough guy who won’t smile for the paps. That’s also the kind of impression I had. But when I met him and read the script, it struck me that his humour is quite crazy.”He went on to add, “His sense of humour is so fresh and rooted. It comes from his observations of life. How boys behave in a Delhi school, the bond between Raghav’s and my characters also come from there.”

‘Ba***ds of Bollywood’ release date

The series releases on Thursday, 18 September 2025.
