Kriti Sanon CONFIRMED as female lead in Homi Adajania's 'Cocktail 2'; says 'This is gonna be a liberating journey'

After months of rumours and casting buzz, Kriti Sanon has finally confirmed her leading role in the upcoming film ‘Cocktail 2’.

The Announcement

The actress’ confirmation about bagging the lead role in the romantic drama came via Homi Adajania’s Instagram story. The director posted a photo of Kriti, but hid her face behind a “Work in Progress” sticker. Not one to leave fans guessing any longer, the director added a caption tagging “@kritisanon #TheSicilianChapter #Cocktail2.”

Kriti’s Confirmation

It wasn’t long before the leading lady reacted to the post by posting it on her stories and writing, “This is gonna be a liberating journey… I can feel it.” With this, the sequel is getting green-lit nearly thirteen years after ‘Cocktail’ first released back in 2012. The film starring Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan and Diana Penty charmed audiences with its blend of romance and comedy. The sequel, however, will feature a fresh cast, with Kriti now in the lead. While the cast has not yet been announced, rumours are rife that it will star Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna. If the rumours are true, this will mark Kriti and Shahid’s second collaboration after their 2024 romantic sci-fi hit ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’.

Release Date

‘Cocktail 2’ is reportedly eyeing a theatrical release in the second half of 2026.

Kriti’s Other Film Projects

On the work front, Kriti is awaiting the release of her film ‘Tere Ishq Mein’ and is also said to be starring in the Hindi remake of ‘Kill Bill’. She is also rumoured to be the top pick for the upcoming film ‘Don 3’, opposite Ranveer Singh, however, an official confirmation is still awaited.
