Kishore Kumar’s fourth wife, Leena Chandavarkar, recounted an incident where the legendary singer’s eccentric behavior, transforming into a frightening persona, left her scared. She admitted to him that she had heard he was ‘mad,’ which he found amusing. Chandavarkar also shared how Kishore Kumar changed significantly after their marriage, with his entourage crediting her for his transformation.

Kishore Kumar was undoubtedly one of the most loved actors and singers in Bollywood. While his talent and charm are well known, his personal life was marked by quirks and eccentricities. His fourth wife, Leena Chandavarkar, once shared how his unpredictable moods could be intimidating.The incident that frightened LeenaIn an old interview with Lehren Retro, Leena said, “Ek incident hai ki unhone mujhse pucha ki ‘Leena tumne mere baare mein kuch suna kya tumne itne saal kaam kiya filmon mein.’ Mai ne kaha kya suna tha, suna toh tha par mai bolna nahi chahti thi. Toh bolte, ‘Kya suna tha tumne’. Toh mai ne kaha yahi ki ap bahut acha gaate ho mai toh apki fan thi or itni achi comedy karte the.’Elaborating further, she added, “Toh unko acha nahi laga unko maja hi nai aa raha tha or mai akeli thi room mein, mai makeup kar rahi thi film Pyaar Ajnabi Hai. Uske baad mai toh nahi kr sakti vo chehre par jaise insaan janwar ho jata hai na darawana ho jata hai, pagal ho jata hai. Toh vo bolte the or mai darr gayi mai apni hair dresser ko dhundne lag thi. Or jump karke sofa par jaa kar aafne lage, mai darr gayi mai ne kaha, ‘Haan-haan suna tha ki ap pagal hai.’ Fir hasne lage.”Changes after marriageIn the same interview, Leena also revealed that Kishore Kumar changed a lot after getting married to her. “”I was very insecure because I was his fourth wife. I was like ‘he shouldn’t get a 5th one’. I was in a lot of tension. Once, I told him that I am leaving the house. He got scared a little, but then he asked me to leave. He told me, ‘Don’t ever come back and never talk to me again.’ As I was about to get in the taxi, his whole group came and they stopped me. They told me ‘how are you leaving? It is because of you that this 8th wonder of the world has changed,” she shared.Kishore Kumar’s marriagesKishore Kumar was married four times. His first wife was Ruma Guha Thakurta, followed by Madhubala, who passed away in 1969. He then married Yogeeta Bali, but their marriage lasted only two years. His final marriage was with Leena Chandavarkar, which continued until his death in 1987.
