Filmmaker Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan’s ex-wife has reassured fans after undergoing appendix surgery, revealing that a sudden health scare changed her plans as she geared up to welcome 2026. Sharing pictures from the hospital on Instagram, Kiran reflected on the experience with humour and gratitude.“Here I was, all ready to party my way into 2026, when my appendix sent me a reminder to slow down, breathe deep, and give thanks.”
Grateful for doctors, hospital staff and loved ones
Thanking the medical team and those who checked in on her, Kiran wrote about her appreciation for modern medicine and the care she received.“Immense gratitude for: modern medicine (still can’t understand how that whole 12mm dia appendix came out through a 10.5mm catheter), Dr Kayomarz Kapadia and the whole surgical team, Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital’s super care.”She also acknowledged the support of her inner circle, adding with her trademark wit, “My friends and family who came around to laugh at my plumped lips – an allergic reaction, sadly they’re back to normal and unglam now.”

Updating fans on her recovery, Kiran confirmed she has been discharged and is recuperating at home.“Well, I’ve been discharged and I’m back home, ready to ease myself into the new year.”Looking ahead, she added an optimistic note about the year to come, “2025 has been good to me and mine, and here’s hoping 2026 will be kind, fun, full of love – AND BETTER AQI – for all.” Soon after the post went live, Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan reacted with red heart emojis, while her husband Nupur Shikhare and actors Aditi Rao Hydari, Tillotama Shome and Viineet Kumar Siingh also sent love and wishing her a speedy recovery.
