King Charles has secured arrangements to see his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet for the first time since 2022, marking a significant development in family relations. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children will finally meet their grandfather after years of separation following the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The upcoming summer visit to British soil promises to mend the considerable distance that has existed between the monarch and his younger grandchildren.According to The Sun, King Charles is said to be ‘overjoyed’ at the prospect of being reconciled with his beloved grandchildren. Prince Harry, Meghan, Prince Archie, now seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, are scheduled to travel to the United Kingdom between July 6 and 10, attending engagements in Birmingham and London connected to next year’s Invictus Games. The family will be accommodated in a royal palace during their stay, marking a significant shift six years after their departure to North America.
Palace housing options are under consideration for the Sussex family
Buckingham Palace emerges as a leading candidate for accommodating the visiting family, with sources describing it as the “safest building in Britain”. The property remains undergoing extensive refurbishment while maintaining round-the-clock protection from security personnel. Windsor Castle and St James’s Palace have also been proposed as alternatives, alongside Frogmore Cottage—the residence the couple previously occupied before their transatlantic move.

It has remained empty since the King evicted the Sussexes from the property in 2022. For the duchess, it would mark her first return to British soil since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022. An agreement is understood to be in place, ensuring the monarch will spend time with Archie and Lilibet during the visit.
A grandfather’s long-awaited moment with young royals
The young royals, who are sixth and seventh in line to the throne, have been kept away from Britain since Harry lost his round-the-clock security following the couple’s 2020 departure. Whether Meghan will accompany her husband and children when they meet the King remains uncertain. The arrangement signifies meaningful progress in the relationship between Charles and his younger grandchildren, who have grown up largely outside the United Kingdom.
