Katy Perry REACTS after backlash over ‘tone-deaf’ remark

Katy Perry REACTS after receiving backlash over ‘tone-deaf’ remark to struggling fan: ‘I send them love and hope’

During the lead-up to her much-anticipated ‘Play’ tour in June 2026, pop icon Katy Perry found herself at the center of a heated debate after her seemingly tone-deaf reply to a fan struggling with financial and mental health issues.

Pop sensation Katy Perry recently drew backlash over a response she made to a struggling fan, and many claimed Katy’s remark was inappropriate. Now the singer has directly addressed her haters through social media, writing that she is sending them (the haters) love and hope.

Katy Perry is sending love and hope to haters

On Friday, March 13, the ‘Firework’ singer took to the social media platform X and gracefully addressed her haters. She wrote, “I love you. Be kind. always take the high road if you can, my kc’s. It’s much lighter here. So excited to share my joy and light with you this summer. I already miss you.” The singer also reacted to a tweet asking her about the haters, to which she wrote, “They must already be in a lot of pain to be so unkind. I send them love and hope they can find their peace.”

Why is Katy Perry facing backlash?

The episode that started the backlash took place earlier this week when a Katy fan wrote on X: “I so badly don’t wanna be here anymore. I’m not cut out for this world like I cannot afford to live at this rate and I’m so close to selling my Katy ticket.”The sad post caught Katy Perry’s attention and wrote, “But I am looking forward to seeing you!”Katy’s response triggered massive backlash online. Many called out Katy for not even offering help or a VIP ticket to the struggling fan. Katy didn’t directly react to the criticism, but she has been sharing positive messages on her social media handle.

Katy Perry’s ‘Play’ tour

The controversy comes as Katy gears up for her highly anticipated ‘Play’ tour, which kicks off on 14 June 2026 in Los Angeles. She will be performing across major cities in the United States, including New York, Chicago, Miami, and San Francisco, before taking the tour to select international locations later this year.
