'Karuppu' actress Deepa’s father attacked in Thoothukudi; Police arrest three suspects

Deepa, an actress whose popular movies include ‘Mayandi Kudumbathar,’ ‘Kadaikutty Singam,’ ‘Doctor,’ and the most recent ‘Karuppu,’ finds herself amidst personal turmoil because her father, Pulavar Ganesan, was assaulted by a gang of unidentified men in a crowded place. The incident has quickly become a major talking point in the district.

Temple administration dispute said to be behind the incident

Pulavar Ganesan, 72, is a well-known figure in Muthiahpuram. Apart from being Deepa’s father, he is actively involved in social and public activities. He serves as a local Congress functionary and is also associated with the administration of the Badrakali Amman Temple. As reported by News 18, disagreements related to temple matters and efforts to install a statue of former leader K. Kamaraj had led to friction with certain individuals in the area. Authorities are investigating whether these issues played a role in the attack.

Victim undergoing treatment after sustaining serious injuries

The incident reportedly took place near a tea shop in the busy Muthiahpuram bazaar area. Witnesses said a group arrived on a motorcycle and attacked Ganesan with sharp weapons before fleeing the scene. People nearby rushed to help after hearing cries for assistance. He sustained several injuries and was rushed to the Thoothukudi Government Hospital, where he was admitted for wounds to his head and other parts of his body. Currently, he is under medication due to his injuries.

Police investigate three suspects in an attack

A case was filed, and the police immediately launched an investigation. It is understood that police arrested three people, who are under interrogation at the station for their possible role in the attack. The assault has raised fears among politicians and citizens. Many of Deepa’s fans have shown solidarity with the actress, who recently appeared in the hit movie ‘Karuppu’.
