Kareena Kapoor Khan: Aroma of ghee brings a million-dollar smile

Dairy products are hearthy or unhealthy? Well, for Kareena Kapoor 'The aroma of ghee brings a million-dollar smile'

Long before clean eating became a wellness trend and influencers started debating whether dairy belonged in a healthy diet, Kareena Kapoor Khan was quietly doing things her own way. No elimination, no guilt, no overthinking. Just real, home-cooked food rooted in the way she grew up eating. In an earlier conversation with us during her second pregnancy, she opened up about her relationship with food, dairy, and the products she trusts to bring into her home.

Kareena Kapoor never gave up dairy, and she has no plans to

At a time when dairy-free and plant-based diets dominate wellness conversations, Kareena’s position was refreshingly straightforward. “I’ve grown up eating ghee, milk, curd, and don’t feel the need to remove them from my diet at all,” she told us. For her, it is not about trends. It is about listening to her body and eating in a way that has worked for her across years, pregnancies included. Her take on those who advocate cutting dairy out entirely was equally grounded. “It is important to include food items that are nutrient-rich in your daily nutrition chart. Holistic eating is the key,” she said. “So as long as your intake is in adequate quantities, I don’t think there is a need to eliminate anything from your diet. The daily dose of dairy nutrition is a must because they make us internally strong.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s ghee rule: 365 days, no exceptions

Perhaps no food is more associated with Kareena Kapoor Khan than ghee. Alongside nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar, she played a significant role in bringing ghee back into the mainstream conversation around healthy eating at a time when fats were still widely feared.”Being a Punjabi, the aroma of ghee brings a million-dollar smile on my face and makes me want to eat more,” she said. “I can never say no to a dal with ghee ka tadka. A generous amount of ghee on my parathas is a must, 365 days.” And when she is in the mood to indulge, it is aate ka halwa made in her own kitchen with ghee that she reaches for. She also noted that “ghee is known to have multiple benefits; it helps you glow from the inside.”

Why Kareena Kapoor Khan calls curd her first love

“Dairy is my first love,” she said, before going into just how versatile curd is in her daily eating. She eats it blended with rice as curd-rice, adds a bowl of it to complete a meal, or drinks it as a thick, creamy smoothie. “I can actually eat curd in any form, anytime,” she said. “Not only does it keep you cool from within, but it also aids in digestion.”The one thing she is particular about is quality. “The trick is to get the right curd. For me, the curd has to be thick and creamy,” she explained.

Kareena Kapoor Khan on eating through her second pregnancy

During her second pregnancy, she kept things simple and consistent. “I’m having my regular home-cooked food, but of course combining that with curd and a spoonful of ghee on my parathas, which is more like part of my diet routine,” she shared. No dramatic cravings, no overhauls. On snacking, she said, “The first step was to become much more responsible about my food choices after becoming a mom. I am extremely mindful of the freshness, hygiene, and purity of the food products that enter my home. My go-to healthy snack is eating fruits and drinking homemade smoothies or milkshakes.”

The way Kareena Kapoor Khan really thinks about food

“There is nothing more nutritious than home-cooked simple food,” she said. “It is absolutely important to listen to your body and eat right.” On the larger question of how to approach nutrition, she summed it up simply. “Holistic eating is the key to looking good, to feeling good.”In a world full of dietary rules and competing wellness advice, Kareena Kapoor Khan continues to eat the way she always has, and in her own words, she has no intention of changing that.
