Kantara 2 fails to beat Chhaava as the highest second week collection of 2025

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 continues to dominate the box office in India but when it comes to record books it has found a formidable opponent in Vicky Kaushal and Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava. Over the second week Kantara 2 has tried time and again to go past daily records of Chhava but it couldn’t live up to the buzz that Vicky Kaushal had in its second week. And it now stands as the highest second week collection of 2025 behind Chhaava. As per Sacnilk, Vicky Kaushal- Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna starrer Chhaava had minted 180.25 crore in its second which was extremely helpful in catapulting the film’s lifetime collection into Rs 600 crore club. In comparison Kantara 2 earned Rs 147.87 crore in its second week falling short by more than Rs 32 crore to displace Chhaava from the top spot.

A closer look at the Week 2 collection of Kantara 2 reveals that the film has had a very topsy turvy run in the second week. It earned Rs 22.25 crore on Friday which was just a 5 % jump from Thursday. But on Saturday it pulled a more than 75 % jump to collect Rs 39 crore and on Sunday it stayed steady with Rs 39.75 crore collection. But on Monday the film dropped by more than 66 % to collect Rs 13.35 crore and on Tuesday on back on discounts the collection showed a minute jump to earn Rs 14.15 crore. But on Wednesday, it dropped by more than 25 % to collect Rs 10.5 crore and on Thursday it fell even further by more than 15 % to collect just Rs 8.87 crore. And with that the week 2 total stood at Rs 147.87 crore and overall collection of the film at Rs 485.27 crore.

The film at least in Hindi market which has clearly overtaken the Kannada collection will have a smooth run for the next 4 days as on 21st October Thamma starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna along with Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat with Hardhvardan Rane and Sonam Bajwa are hitting the theaters. In South one can witness some disruption from today itself as a string of films from Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dude to Dhruv Vikram Bison to Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Raashii Khanna and Srinidhi Shetty’s Telusu Kada and a few more are releasing to cash on the Diwali holidays.
