Rishab Shetty’s ‘ Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ beats Akshay Kumar’s ‘Kesari’ to become 61st biggest hit of Hindi Cinema
Thanks to a stellar Week 1 and 2nd weekend run at the ticket window Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 has cemented its position in the record books. With the weekday collections in Week 2- the film is gradually losing the ground it covered over the first 11 days. The total collection of the film at the end of 14 days now stands at Rs 476.55crore. The film was released across 5 languages but Kannada and Hindi have been the two engines of the film contributing Rs 149.85 crore and Rs 159.65 crore respectively.
With its Wednesday collection Kantara 2 has become the 61st biggest hit of Hindi Cinema bypassing Akshay Kumar’s Kesari. Till Tuesday Kantara 2 was in 63rd position and jumped just 2 positions on Wednesday leaving behind names likeAjay Devgn , Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit’ Total Dhamaal ( Rs 155.67 crore ) and Akshay Kumar’s Kesari ( Rs 155.7 crore). Kantara 2 added just Rs 4.15 crore to its Hindi total. And it now needs more than Rs 5 crore to jump few positions and enter into the Top 60 films of Hindi Cinema. But the collections of the film are dropping with each passing day. The makers would be hoping that the 3rd weekend followed by the Diwali holidays would push the film’s total collection beyond Rs 550 crore mark at least.
The journey for the film is still far from over as it has another 5 days of uninterrupted run at the box office with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika’s Thamma and Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat releasing only on 21st October.
Kantara 2 features Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram and Rakimini Vasanth in pivotal roles, the makers have announced the third part with the climax of the second part
