Kantara 2 becomes 43rd biggest hit of Hindi cinema

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ Hindi version has crossed Rs 200 crore, surpassing ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Happy New Year’. The film’s impressive run continues, now ranking 43rd among Hindi cinema’s biggest hits. With projections to reach Rs 220-230 crore, it’s poised to enter the Top 30 and potentially become the year’s biggest hit.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 continues its steady run at the box office as its Hindi version enters the coveted Rs 200 crore club. Its Hindi collection now stands at Rs 205 crore while its overall collection is at Rs 589.5 crore. On the 25th day of its release the film’s Hindi version added Rs 4.5 crore to its total which has reached Rs 205 crore now. And with that the film has now gone beyond the lifetime collection of the first film in the Rs 200 crore club which was Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots. The 2009 film had minted Rs 202.47 crore from its theatrical run.Kantara 2 has not only left behind 3 Idiots, it has also gone past Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan’s Happy New Year which had earned Rs 199.95 crore and Akshay Kumar- Sonakshi Sinha- Vidya Balan starrer Mission Mangal which had a theatrical collection of Rs 203.08 crore. As Kantara 2 beats the biggest stars of Hindi cinema like Aamir Khan,Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar- it now occupies the 43rd rank in the list of biggest hits of Hindi cinema. Kantara 2’s run is far from over as it has survived Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma which earned over Rs 90 crore in its first extended weekend and is also all set to challenge SS Rajamouli and Prabhas’s Baahubali-The Epic releasing next week. Going by the trends Kantara 2 will be able to touch Rs 220 to Rs 230 crore from Hindi markets over the next few weeks , making a place for itself in Top 30 films. Overall the film is all set to take the top spot displacing Vicky Kaushal and Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava as the biggest hit of the year. It needs around Rs 10 crore more to do so.
