Kantara 2 beats Kantara’s Hindi collection in just 6 days

Rishab Shetty’s ‘ Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ beats Kantara’s lifetime Hindi collection in just 6 days

The cinematic phenomenon that is Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ has taken the box office by storm, achieving new heights that outdo its original incarnation. The Hindi version of the sequel has demonstrated astonishing box office prowess, surpassing its predecessor’s total revenue within just six days, raking in a staggering Rs 93.25 crore.

Back in 2022 when Rishab Shetty released Kantara neither he nor anyone associated with the film knew what a gold mine they were sitting on. The film went on to put Kannada cinema at the heart of Indian cinema and went on to mint Rs 309.64 crore at the box office. Out of the total collection Rs 84.77 crore came from the Hindi version and this was despite the film being released in Hindi two weeks after its release in the Southern part of India. But for its sequel Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1, the makers decided to release the film on the same day-date across the country and the result is there for everyone to see. The film in just 6 days has minted Rs 290.25 crore, with Hindi version contributing Rs 93.25 crore. And with this the Hindi collection of the sequel has gone past the first part’s lifetime collection of Rs 84.77 crore. The Hindi collection has been the engine of the film. On its opening day it collected Rs 18.5 crore , on day 2 it saw a dip but collected Rs 12.5 crore. On Saturday the collections jumped to Rs 19.5 crore and on Sunday it minted Rs 23 crore- its highest collection. Monday the film saw a usual drop but still collected Rs 8.75 crore and on Tuesday the collections jumped once again to collect Rs 11 crore. With this the total Hindi collection of the film is at Rs 93.25 crore. The way trends are going Kantara 2 will be able to cross Rs 100 crore mark in Hindi by the end of its first week. Kantara 2’s Hindi run has completely overshadowed the big Hindi release of this week Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari which was headlined by Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. The film is struggling to cross the Rs 40 crore mark.Kantara 2’s is destined to have a long run at the box office with no big release lined up till Diwali which will see two releases in Thamma starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna along with Ek Deewane Ke Deewaniyat starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa.
