Kala Hiran producer sends legal notice to Govind Namdev

Kala Hiran controversy: Producer Amit Jani sends legal notice to Govind Namdev, demands public apology and Rs 50 lakh compensation

The controversy surrounding Kala Hiran, the film inspired by Salman Khan’s 1998 blackbuck poaching case, has taken a fresh turn. Producer Amit Jani has now issued a legal notice to veteran actor Govind Namdev after the latter publicly expressed disappointment and concern over the film’s teaser.Govind Namdev recently stated that he was shocked after watching the first glimpse of Kala Hiran and alleged that the final product appeared completely different from what he had agreed to work on.

Amit Jani demands public apology from Govind Namdev

Escalating the matter, Amit Jani announced on X that legal action has been initiated against the actor. In his post, Jani wrote, “Govind Namdev ko legal notice diya. 7 din mein sarvajanik maafi maange aur production house ko 50 lakh rupaya jurmana de; anyatha kanooni karyavahi hogi.”The producer has sought a public apology from Namdev within seven days and demanded Rs 50 lakh as compensation to the production house. He also warned that legal proceedings would follow if the actor failed to comply.

What Govind Namdev said about the film

The dispute began after Govind Namdev claimed that the teaser left him stunned because it did not resemble the project he remembered shooting. The actor suggested that he had not been informed about the final direction of the film and maintained that the version presented to the public was not what he had signed up for. His comments attracted significant attention given his long association with the film industry and his past collaborations with Salman Khan, including in Wanted.

Film under scrutiny for similarities to Salman Khan case

Although the makers have avoided using Salman Khan’s name, the teaser introduced a character called Ayaan Khan, whose look and mannerisms have sparked comparisons with the superstar. The resemblance has led to renewed debate over whether the film is indirectly recreating events linked to the actor’s blackbuck poaching case. Despite the speculation, the makers have repeatedly insisted that the characters are fictional.

Sonu Mishra had earlier levelled allegations against the project

Before Namdev’s remarks, actor Sonu Mishra had also stirred controversy by revealing that he was originally cast in the role resembling Salman Khan.Mishra claimed he withdrew from the project after realizing that the film was presenting what he described as a one-sided narrative against the superstar.“I left because I had not signed the agreement. We shot for two days, and I asked them for the agreement and script because they were making a one-sided narrative story against a superstar. So, they understood I was not going to fall into their trap,” he said. The actor further alleged that he was later informed about plans that would require him to speak negatively about the star in public, something he said went against his principles.“So, all these things were against my ethics,” he added.
