‘Karuppu’ has emerged as one of the biggest commercial successes in Suriya’s career, and the film’s strong performance has now turned into a celebration for the actor’s family as well. The film is directed by RJ Balaji and it mixed fantasy with action elements along with top performance of Suriya and Trisha Krishnan. Now, actor Jyotika has reacted to the overwhelming response received by the film. Speaking during a recent interaction with Sudhir Srinivasan, she shared her happiness over the audience support and the strong box office numbers.

Jyotika talks about box office importance

During the discussion, the host compared ‘Karuppu’ to Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’ and observed that while the film may not necessarily be considered Suriya’s finest work critically, it delivered the celebratory theatrical experience fans wanted.Reacting to the statement, Jyotika spoke about the importance of balancing storytelling with commercial success in cinema.”We’re very overwhelmed. Suriya loves telling good stories and he always makes sure there’s a story in every film. But the box office numbers are also required, I think, for the heroes. Or for actors, any actor, any budget. No one’s here to be at a loss. So, it’s very important for them also to churn out the numbers,” she said.

Jyotika says ‘Karuppu’ has its own soul

Jyotika further explained why she feels ‘Karuppu’ stands apart from regular mass entertainers. According to her, the film combines fan-service moments with an emotional core and meaningful storytelling.”Definitely, it’s very overwhelming. And if you see ‘Karuppu’, along with being an absolute fan and commercial film, there’s a story going on. He’s playing a God, and there’s something to the script, definitely. It’s not just one of the run-of-the-mill commercial films. It has its own soul. It’s just been put across differently for the masses to see. But the last ten minutes of the film, I mean, Suriya’s really performed brilliantly. We’re so overwhelmed and so happy with the love. It’s a celebration at home.”

‘Karuppu’ continues strong box office run

The film has maintained a solid theatrical run despite minor drops in daily collections. According to Sacnilk, Karuppu collected Rs 8.30 crore net in India on Day 7. This reflected a 22.4 percent decline compared to the Rs 10.70 crore net collected on Day 6.The collections came from 5,140 shows across the country. The film’s total India net collection has now reached Rs 114.05 crore.India gross collections currently stand at Rs 132.05 crore, showing the film’s strong performance in Tamil Nadu and other major regions.’Karuppu’ has also continued to perform strongly in overseas markets. The film earned Rs 3 crore overseas on Day 7 alone taking its international gross collection to Rs 57 crore. The worldwide gross collection of the film has now reached Rs 189.05 crore. Go to Source
