JungKook sparks concern over ‘death threat’ claim

BTS star JungKook sparks concern over 'death threat' claim in controversial drunk broadcast

BTS star JungKook went viral this week when his alleged ‘drunken’ broadcast took social media by storm. In the video, he spoke candidly about subjects ranging from his struggle to quit smoking to ‘the company’ allegedly not allowing him to reveal all to ARMY. Now, a man has gone viral for translating the clip from Korean, which has in turn, revealed a rather shocking detail the singer made during the now-deleted late-night live broadcast. The livestream, which previously went viral for JungKook’s candid confessions, sparked concern among fans when the singer referenced people who “want to kill” him.

Has JungKook been getting death threats?

In a clip widely circulated online, JungKook said, “Honestly, there must be a lot of people who don’t support me and don’t like me and want to belittle me…and people who want to kill me. There must be a lot of people who hate me. But so what? I don’t care.”

Fans react to JungKook’s video

The remarks have sparked concern among fans, many of whom expressed shock at the mention of alleged death threats. Several criticised Korean media outlets for focusing primarily on his smoking, drinking and use of profanity and rumoured love life, when he could have hinted at his life being in danger.“I couldn’t check the full LIVE yet, but WTF IS THIS?? #Jungkook is getting d* threat but KOREAN MEDIA chose to cover useless points of smoking and dating instead! Is d* threat so normalized in kpop now?” one fan wrote. Another posted, “this korean man translated what jungkook said here and I’m shocked.. ‘people who want to k*** me’, he’s getting death threats??? oh my god… I’m speechless.”A third added, “jungkook getting death threats he opened up about it to us but those koreans and k-media focused on his drinking, smoking and cussing habits which is a normal thing everyone does instead of trying to protect him. my heart breaks for him.”

JungKook’s confessions on broadcast

During the same livestream, Jungkook also spoke about the pressures of fame and his desire to be honest with fans, saying, “I’m human too. I just want to enjoy myself… I wanted to be honest with ARMYs.”The singer openly admitted, “I want to talk about smoking,” before he went on to say, “I’m thirty now. I smoked a lot. I tried really hard to quit,” adding that he spoke “out of frustration” without discussing it with the company. While the video has been taken down, both the singer and his record label has not yet issued a statement on the same.
