‘Jolly LLB 3’ row: Bombay HC dismisses plea

'Jolly LLB 3' row: Bombay High Court DISMISSES plea over 'mockery' allegations; says 'Don't worry about us'

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday dismissed a plea seeking action against Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s upcoming film ‘Jolly LLB 3’, over allegations that the film mocked judges and lawyers.

Court rules on the Jolly LLB 3 plea

According to reports, a bench of Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad, dismissed the plea with a sharp response. “We have been facing mockery since day one. Don’t worry about us,” the court said, as reported by PTI.

About the controversy

The petition, filed by the Association for Aiding Justice through advocate Chandrakant Gaikwad, had sought a stay on the film’s release and demanded deletion of the song ‘Bhai Vakeel Hai’. The petitioner’s lawyer argued that the movie and song not only “make a mockery” of lawyers, but also said that a judge was called “mamu” in the movie. Meanwhile, the filmmakers’ legal team reportedly pointed out during the hearing that a similar plea had already been dismissed by the Allahabad High Court. However, the bench ruled that the court was not worried about cinematic portrayals, thus allowing the film to keep to its September 19 release.

Jolly LLB 3 CBFC rating and runtime

Ahead of its release, the film was granted its certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). It was awarded a U/A certificate with a “16+” rating. Reports stated that a few alterations had to be made to the film, however, these did not alter the storyline.’Jolly LLB 3′ has a runtime of 2 hours 37 minutes and 16 seconds.

Jolly LLB 2 advance box office collections

As per Sacnilk, the film is seeing good advance bookings a day before its release. The film has so far managed to rake in an estimated Rs 1.26 crore, and Rs 3.02 crore counting blocked seats, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. It remains to be seen how much the film can rake in on day 1.Written and directed by Subhash Kapoor, ‘Jolly LLB 3’ also stars Saurabh Shukla, Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, and Gajraj Rao. Go to Source
