‘Jolly LLB 3’ crosses Rs 50 crore on opening weekend

'Jolly LLB 3' box office collection day 3: The Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi film sees growth on Sunday, crosses Rs 50 crore

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Jolly LLB 3’ released on Friday and had a decent opening day number. The film is as such that more than a bumper opening, it was expected to see growth through positive word of mouth and that has happened. It saw growth on Saturday and went slightly better on Sunday. The film which also stars Arshad Warsi made Rs 12.5 crore on day 1. On Saturday, it made Rs 20 crore and on Sunday it made Rs 21 crore. The total collection of the movie after the first three days now stands at Rs 53.50 crore, according to Sacnilk. It clearly witnessed a surge of over 50% on Saturday, though part of that jump can be attributed to the big cricket match on Sunday, as some of the audience likely preponed their viewing. As a result, Sunday footfalls may see a dip. While the Mumbai circuit continues to underperform compared to others, according to Box Office India, the Saturday growth was more visible in the major centres there. On the other hand, Delhi/UP and East Punjab circuits are delivering outstanding results. In fact, East Punjab has emerged as the biggest surprise, contributing a massive 13.5% share, which is an extraordinary figure in the present era. The farmer-related backdrop of the story is likely a strong connect, much like ‘Jolly LLB 2’ did in the past when the circuit was already robust. The film appears well on its way to becoming a success. Such strong Saturday gains typically translate into a solid Monday hold, and with Sunday business trimmed by cricket, Monday should actually benefit. Interestingly, the current trajectory is drawing parallels with Sitaare Zameen Par, which also overperformed in the North. However, Jolly LLB 3 had a stronger opening in regions like UP, Rajasthan, and Bihar, though these markets showed comparatively softer growth.
