Johny Lever revealed Govinda worked like a ‘madman’

'I feel Govinda has the best timing': When Johny Lever revealed the 'Hero No. 1' star worked like a ‘madman’

There was a time when Govinda practically lived on film sets. His comedic brilliance, vibrant screen presence, and effortless dancing made him one of Bollywood’s busiest and most bankable stars. While fans saw only the fun and flamboyance on screen, behind the scenes he was navigating punishing schedules few could endure. In an old interview, Johny Lever reminisced about those days and revealed just how intense Govinda’s work routine really was.

Johny Lever recalls Govinda’s unbelievable energy and workload

In a past conversation with Wild Films India, Johny Lever spoke about that era and shared how relentlessly Govinda worked. “Govinda works like a madman,” he said, recalling a phase when the actor was shooting for multiple films in a single day—moving from one set to another with barely any rest.

Govinda Hospitalised After Collapsing At Home, Currently Under Observation

Johny revealed that Govinda would give a few hours to each film, juggling comedy scenes, dance sequences, and action shots within the same day. The pace was so demanding that his health often suffered. He added that when he visited Govinda at home, he would sometimes find him unwell or recovering from exhaustion. Yet the actor always bounced back and returned to the set with the same enthusiasm. Johny described him as one of the most hardworking performers he had ever worked with.

‘Govinda’s timing is unmatched’

Johny also praised Govinda’s craft, highlighting what set him apart from other actors known for comedy. He said Govinda’s instincts, expressions, and timing made him extraordinary.“Among all the actors who do comedy, I feel Govinda has the best timing,” Johny remarked, adding that while others like Akshay Kumar have developed strong comedic skills, Govinda’s natural flair remains exceptional.

Their most memorable films together

When asked about the films he cherishes most with Govinda, Johny mentioned Deewana Mastana and Joru Ka Ghulam. He recalled how exhausting those shoots could be because Govinda was constantly switching between films. At times, the actor needed a short break between takes just to regain his energy before jumping into another scene.Despite the heavy workload, their on-screen chemistry gave audiences some of Bollywood’s most iconic comedic moments.
