John REACTS to SC’s revised order on stray dogs

Supreme Court revises decision on stray dogs in Delhi; John Abraham REACTS: 'I am thankful…'

John Abraham has once again shown his soft corner for animals, this time with a heartfelt note on the Supreme Court’s latest ruling on stray dogs. On Friday (22 August), the apex court changed its earlier decision of moving all stray dogs in Delhi-NCR to shelter homes. As reported by TOI’s India desk, SC ruled that only aggressive or rabid dogs would be shifted, while the rest would be sterilised, vaccinated, and released back into their local areas. John, known for speaking up for animal rights, reacted with gratitude and praised the court for choosing compassion and coexistence.

Supreme Court modifies order on stray dogs

The Supreme Court’s earlier verdict had ordered that all stray dogs in Delhi-NCR be sent to shelters. This had caused strong reactions and concerns, as many believed that removing every dog from the streets was neither practical nor fair. By modifying its order, the court brought much relief to animal lovers, dog feeders, and communities that care for these animals every day.

John Abraham expresses gratitude for Supreme Court

Soon after the revised decision, PETA shared John Abraham’s note addressed to the court. His words carried both gratitude and hope for a better approach to animal care. He wrote, “On behalf of dogs, I am thankful to the Supreme Court for ruling, in essence, that there must be peaceful coexistence and that dogs must not be removed from roads. However, the role of feeders in creating friendly dogs who are easy to handle for sterilisations and vaccinations must also be recognised and respected, and municipalities must ensure sufficient feeding stations in every lane for an effective animal birth control program.”

John’s earlier appeal to Chief Justice

John’s stand on this issue was not new. Even before the court’s revised decision, he had personally written a letter to the Chief Justice of India, BR Gavai. In this letter, he requested the court to rethink the earlier order of moving all dogs to shelters. He wrote, “I hope you will agree that these are not ‘strays’ but community dogs — respected and loved by many, and very much Delhiites in their own right, having lived in the region as neighbours to humans for generations.”

John Abraham on the work front

John Abraham was recently seen in ‘Tehran’. Looking ahead, John has two interesting projects lined up. ‘Tariq’ and a biopic on Rakesh Maria. The release dates of both films have not been announced yet, but there is already a buzz around them.
