‘Jana Nayagan’ box office collections day 16: Thalapathy Vijay’s film earns Rs 1.18 crore; 26.2% drop from Day 15

Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ witnessed another decline in its box office earnings on its third Friday. The film added Rs 1.18 crore to its India net collection on Day 16. This came after the film earned Rs 1.60 crore on Day 15.According to Sacnilk estimates, the latest figure marks a 26.2% drop from the previous day’s collection. The film recorded the Day 16 earnings across 2,010 shows in India. Its overall occupancy stood at 15.4% on Friday.The film has now entered the later stage of its theatrical run. Its daily collections have slowed down too much after it crossed the prestigious Rs 300 crores worldwide.

India net collection crosses Rs 186 crore

‘Jana Nayagan’ has collected Rs 186.33 crore net in India. The film’s total domestic gross collection has reached Rs 217.22 crore.The Tamil version recorded an estimated net collection of Rs 1.08 crore. The Hindi version added around Rs 10 lakh to the domestic total.The Tamil version registered an overall occupancy of 18.87% on Friday. Its night shows recorded the strongest turnout at 24.92%. Morning shows had an occupancy of 11.31%, while afternoon and evening shows recorded 15.85% and 18.62%, respectively.The Hindi version had an overall occupancy of 14.25%. Its morning shows recorded 9.45% occupancy, followed by 8.45% in the afternoon, 9.18% in the evening and 14.64% at night.

Worldwide collection reaches Rs 310 crore

‘Jana Nayagan’ has earned Rs 92.80 crore in overseas gross collections so far. This takes its worldwide gross collection to Rs 310.03 crore. The film had crossed the Rs 300 crore milestone worldwide before entering its third week.Its second-week performance added Rs 31.60 crore to the overall India net collection. The film had previously registered a first-week collection of Rs 153.55 crore.

‘G.D.N.’ gets a slow opening

Meanwhile, R. Madhavan’s ‘G.D.N.’ has begun its theatrical journey with a modest opening. The film earned an estimated Rs 59 lakh in gross collections across India on its first day, according to Sacnilk.Its India net collection stood at approximately Rs 53 lakh. The worldwide gross was also estimated at around Rs 59 lakh on Day 1. The Tamil version of ‘G.D.N.’ contributed the majority of the film’s opening-day earnings. It recorded an estimated India net collection of Rs 46 lakh.The Telugu version added approximately Rs 7 lakh to the film’s India net total. The combined performance of the two versions resulted in an estimated domestic net collection of Rs 53 lakh.’G.D.N.’ will now look to register stronger numbers during the weekend.
