Jacob Elordi’s shoot for Emily Brontë’s classic novel adaptation ‘Wuthering Heights’ was nothing short of wuthering. The Australian actor, 28, shared how he suffered a serious injury during the early shooting days and had to be briefly hospitalised. In an interview with Esquire, he revealed how a joke with the makeup artist about having real scars for the character turned out to become a reality pretty soon. “Siân Miller, the make-up artist, was designing the scars from the whips for Heathcliff’s back. She challenged me: ‘If Daniel Day-Lewis was playing Heathcliff, he would have come in with scars,’” he shared with the film’s director Emerald Fennell in the interview. “‘I said, “Well I’m going to go away and maim myself on the weekend to prove to you that I’m Heathcliff!’” claimed Elordi.
The shocking injury
The ‘Euphoria’ star revealed that the house he was staying in had a steam shower and after portraying the character of Heathcliff, he was covered in dirt. As he went in to clean his feet, he leant back on the brass knob from where the steam spread into the bathroom and ended up suffering a second-degree burn, the same day. “That night I went home, and the house I was staying in had a steam shower: a brass knob that steam came from out of the wall,” he said. “I was sitting on the floor of the shower…As Heathcliff, I was covered in mange and dirt, and I thought, ‘I’m not going to do that again, I’m going to clean my feet properly every night and come in to work fresh the next day.’”
“So I went to clean my feet, and I leant back and my back seared into the steam knob,” he added. “And I stood up screaming; it tore up my back. When I went to work on Monday I had a second-degree burn.”When Emerald received a text about Elordi being in the hospital from the producer Josey McNamara, she assumed “he’s had a car accident” until told that “He’s burnt his back in the shower.”“It was actual Daniel Day-Lewis,” quipped Elordi, referring to actor Daniel Day-Lewis who is popular for going to extreme “methods” for his roles.
A steamy pairing
The stars have made much buzz about their insane chemistry on and off the screen. Robbie even noted that she became deeply “codependent” with him “quite quickly.”“I felt quite lost. Like a kid without their blanket or something,” she added of the moments when Jacob wasn’t around. “I was like, ‘Where is he?’”For Jacob, the feeling was “mutual,” as he put it, “I was enamoured by her.”Elordi will be appearing with ‘Barbie’ actress Margot Robbie in the much-anticipated film, set to release on February 13, 2026. While he plays the antihero Heathcliff, she plays Catherine Earnshaw, his love interest in a tale of obsession and revenge. Go to Source
