Imtiaz Ali would change THIS in Tamasha’s climax

This could have been Imtiaz Ali’s different ending for Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s 'Tamasha'

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has taken an intriguing turn in his narrative vision for the beloved film ‘Tamasha.’ Reflecting on its ending, he now proposes that Ved and Tara’s journey shouldn’t conclude with their union. Instead, he imagines Tara as a powerful muse, fueling Ved’s creative spark while remaining an ethereal presence in his life.

This could have been Imtiaz Ali’s different ending for Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s Tamasha

When Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha hit the theaters in 2015, it left the audience mesmerized with its exploration of self, identity, love and the conflict between who the world wants us to be and who we want to be. Ranbir Kapoor’s Ved and Deepika Padukone’s Tara who met by chance and ended up changing each other’s destinies.

A decade later Imtiaz revealed that if given a chance he would alter the climax of the film. In his conversation with ETimes, he shared that he wouldn’t have chosen for Ved and Tara to be together in the climax of the film. He said , “With Tamasha, I would have had Ved and Tara not get together with each other in the end, because the larger story is that she is the muse and he is the artist. She can continue to inspire him, but not be in his life personally. Like she might have moved on, and he might still have bowed down to her and said that you are the one who made me, but he might have lost her.”
In the reimagined climax, Imtiaz isn’t negating love-he’s elevating it from possession to purpose and from companionship with creation.
Imtiaz’s last project was a biopic based on the life of Amar Singh Chamkila by the same name with Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the lead. He is currently shooting in Punjab for his next project once again with Diljit Dosanjh and it also features Sharvari, Vedang Raina, Arbaaz Khan and Nasseruddin Shah.
