How ‘Laalo’ became the biggest sleeper hit on Rs 50 lakh budget?

From Rs 5 lakh opening to grossing Rs 101 crore worldwide box office success: How 'Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate' became the biggest sleeper hit on Rs 50 lakh budget?

‘Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate’ is emerging as the first-ever Gujarati film to cross the Rs 100-crore mark. What makes this feat even more astonishing is the budget of the film was just Rs 50 lakh. The film had a disastrous start, earning only Rs 5 lakh on its opening day when it was released in Gujarat on October 10, 2025. Even the first three weeks showed no signs of a breakout, with Rs 40 lakh in week one, Rs 30 lakh in week two, and a mild jump to Rs 80 lakh in week three. But as word of mouth spread, the movie exploded. Week five brought in Rs 32.50 crore, week six Rs 28.25 crore, and week seven Rs 17.75 crore, turning ‘Laalo’ into the biggest blockbuster Gujarati cinema has ever seen.

Eight weeks later, still unstoppable at the box office

After its eighth weekend, the film touched a staggering Rs 101.50 crore in 52 days as reported by the Sacnilk website. Even on Day 53, when most films barely survive, ‘Laalo’ stunned the trade once again by earning Rs 88 lakh gross (Rs 76 lakh net) across 981 shows with an occupancy of 16.2%.

Emotional moment brings Reeva Rachch to tears

The massive success of the film has created unforgettable moments for the team, none more powerful than what unfolded recently in Mehsana. At a packed promotional event attended by thousands, actress Reeva Rachch was reminded of a dream she once had: that one day, a Gujarati movie would make Rs 100 crore. When her close friend said on stage that her own film had now achieved that dream, Reeva broke down instantly. Overwhelmed with emotion and disbelief, she cried uncontrollably until director Ankit Sakhiya stepped in to comfort her. With her voice trembling, Reeva recalled a time when she wondered if people saw her as “a crazy girl” for dreaming so big , only to be told by a friend that such madness is exactly what creates miracles. And today, Laalo stands as the miracle that proved her right.
