Honey Singh denies performing the controversial track ‘Volume 1’

Honey Singh denies performing the controversial track 'Volume 1' during an event: 'No such event happened'

Singer and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has denied allegations that he performed the controversial track Volume 1 during an event, a submission that was made before the Delhi High Court through his advocate Rajshekhar Rao. The court, during the latest hearing, directed the singer to file an affidavit formally recording his stand in the matter. As per ANI, Honey Singh’s legal counsel rejected claims that the singer performed the allegedly objectionable song at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on March 1, 2025, before an audience of nearly 50,000 people. The defence also demanded evidence, including audio or video footage, to support the allegation that the song had been performed at the event.Honey Singh said, “No such event happened. I did not sing,” through his counsel.Following the submission, the Delhi High Court instructed the singer to submit an affidavit placing his version on official record. The matter is now scheduled to be heard next on May 19, 2026.The case linked to Volume 1, involving Honey Singh and fellow rapper Badshah, was filed by an organisation named Hindu Shakti Dal. The petition sought the removal and blocking of the song from all digital platforms, alleging that its lyrics were “obscene, vulgar, and derogatory” towards women. The plea also claimed that despite objections, the song continued to circulate online and was allegedly being performed publicly, raising concerns over its wider impact. While hearing the matter, the Delhi High Court observed that the content of Volume 1 was “grossly vulgar” and “obscene,” adding that such material should not remain openly accessible in a civilised society. The court subsequently directed intermediaries and authorities to immediately take down all versions, remixes and related links of the song from online platforms. Notices were also issued to the singers, directing them to comply with the legal proceedings.
