‘Homebound’ mints an all-time low on day 9

'Homebound' box office collection day 8: Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa starrer mints all-time low

‘Homebound,’ the prominent film that received a stunning standing ovation at the Cannes International Film Festival, has been underperforming in the theatrical lands of India. Starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, day 8 saw an all-time low on October 3, 2025.

‘Homebound’ day 8 box office collection

‘Homebound’ added a sum of Rs 13 lakh on the eighth day, taking the gross collection to Rs 3.04 crore, according to estimates by Sacnilk. Released on September 26, ‘Homebound’ has had a tumultuous journey at the box office, hitting low margins. On its debut day, the film grossed Rs 30 lakh and saw a slight increase to Rs 55 lakh on both the weekend days. The number dropped to Rs 20 lakh on Monday, and continued the trend with Rs 28 lakh, Rs 35 lakh, and Rs 22 lakh.

About ‘Homebound’

Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, ‘Homebound’ revolves around the best friends, who see being in a police uniform as the only way to escape from the boundaries of religion and caste during the times of lockdown, and a shield against discrimination. Based on Kashmiri journalist Basharat Peer’s column in The New York Times titled ‘Taking Amrit Home’, the film, which is India’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the Academy Awards, gives a contemporary look at socio-political issues.

The cast and review

Other than the aforementioned acclaimed actors, the film stars Reem Shaikh, Shalini Vatsa, Chandan K Anand, Vijay Vikram Singh, and Harshika Parmar. “Homebound raises many questions. How did we get here? What has made us so bereft of empathy and compassion? A soul-stirring observation of a world growing cold, this is filmmaking at its finest,” according to ETimes review.
