Gulshan Devaiah was approached for Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra

Did you know Gulshan Devaiah was approached for Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra? 'It was a voice role...'

Actor Gulshan Devaiah revealed he was approached for a role in Alia Bhatt’s recent film Jigra. He was unavailable for the project. Devaiah also shared past instances where he missed opportunities with filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap. He believes in keeping friendships and work separate. Devaiah has previously worked with Jigra director Vasan Bala on other films.

Alia Bhatt collaborated with director Vasan Bala for the first time in Jigra with Vedang Raina. While the movie received mixed reviews, the actress received rave reviews for her performance. However, did you know that even Gulshan Devaiah was approahced for a role in the movie?

Gulshan reveals he was offered a small role in Jigra

In a conversation with News18, Gulshan revealed, “Vasan did his first film Peddlers with me and then we did Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. My voice is in Monica O My Darling. He wanted me to do something in Jigra too but I wasn’t available. It was either a voice role or a character that passes in the background.”The actor further shared that even if he hadn’t been approached for a cameo in Jigra, he wouldn’t have minded. He explained that he doesn’t believe in expecting his friends to offer him roles in their projects, adding that friendship and work should remain independent of each other.

On his friendship with Vasan Bala

He continued, “Vasan is a very good friend of mine. I can call him if I know that he’s working on a script and tell him that I want to be a part of it but I don’t. I choose not to do such a thing. Sometimes, they offer you a part voluntarily and sometimes, they don’t.”He went on to recall a similar experience with Anurag Kashyap, the filmmaker who launched him. Gulshan revealed that Anurag had offered him two major projects in the past, but unfortunately, he couldn’t be a part of them due to other commitments.

‘I was supposed to do a part in Sacred Games’

Elaborating further, Devaiah added, “After That Girl In Yellow Boots, Anurag called me to work with him a couple of times. I was supposed to do a part in Sacred Games but in the episodes that Vikram (Vikramaditya Motwane) was directing. I was also offered a part in Yudh but I didn’t like it.”“Harshvardhan Kulkarni made Hunterrr where I was his leading man. In Badhaai Do, I was romancing his leading man. But I’ve never asked these filmmakers for a role. If a role comes to me, it does. I guess it’s alright. Sometimes, it’s important to work with new people because they push you into a different direction. It could be the same for them also. They should be able to get the actors they want for a part. And sometimes, maybe I’m not the right person for it,” Gulshan concluded.
