While talking to Deadline following the release of the abrupt ‘Ghosts’ season 5 finale, showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman weighed in on their creative choices for the show and what the next season will entail.The two showrunners addressed Pete’s disappearance in the show and cited that they have been teasing the concept for a while now. However, they know that fans are still surprised by how the season’s last episode ended. Port stated during the interview that “We’ve teased Pete disappearing a couple times now, and it’s gonna be very interesting to figure out where he went and where he is and what he’s like now. It’s sort of an existential question that we’ve been wrestling with about what would happen if he disappeared. So we’re going to answer that question when we come back.” Wiseman added that they wanted the season to end in such a way that fans have a whole lot of questions for the future seasons. He added, “One of our main characters just disappeared, and who knows, will he be back? Where has he been? It just seems to bring up a lot of enticing questions.”

‘Ghosts’ season 5 finale recap

Jay and Sam, along with their bunch of eccentric ghostly friends, are butting heads against an evil conglomerate that is hellbent on turning the green area around the Woodstone Mansion into a data center after investing in Artificial Technology.The group come up with a plan to find something historical that can connect to their area and stop the company from building their centers, however, its slim pickings for them all. Though, they do find out that Nancy from the basement was indeed a princess before she died from Cholera on the property. Now all they have to do is find a way to prove that she was in fact, royalty.The season ends on a major cliffhanger as Pete all of a sudden disappears from the duo’s backseat. As they near the Woodstone property, he simply disappeared, and they are left wondering where Pete went and what they will do next.

What we know about ‘Ghosts’ season 6

In the same interview, the two showrunners also talked about season 6 of ‘Ghosts’. The next season is set to premiere with a one-hour Halloween special in October this year. The showrunners have confirmed that for the first time in the franchise, there will be a time jump of several months between the events of the two seasons.
