FWICE urges the industry to offer financial, moral support to Rajpal

Rajpal Yadav cheque bounce case: FWICE urges the industry to offer financial and moral support to the actor

Actor Rajpal Yadav, who surrendered to Tihar Jail authorities on Thursday, is currently grappling with a debt of Rs 9 crore. As members of the film fraternity like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan and many others have begun extending support during this difficult phase, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has also issued a public appeal, urging the Indian film and television industry to stand by him.In an official statement, FWICE wrote, “Members across 36 affiliated associations issue an earnest and heartfelt appeal to the entire Indian Film & Television fraternity to come together in support of Shri Rajpal Yadav during a period of severe personal and financial distress.”Highlighting his contribution to cinema, the statement added, “Shri Rajpal Yadav is not merely a celebrated actor known for bringing joy and laughter to millions, but also a dedicated member of our industry who has contributed immensely to Indian cinema through decades of sincere work and memorable performances.”The federation emphasised that financial hardship can affect anyone, regardless of fame or achievement. It stated, “This situation is not reflective of his character or integrity, but rather the result of circumstances that spiralled beyond control. At this critical juncture, FWICE believes this is a moment for the industry to demonstrate its unity, compassion, and collective responsibility towards one of its own. “Calling for collective action, the note concluded, “FWICE therefore appeals to all producers, directors, artists, technicians, associations, and well-wishers to extend their moral and financial support to help Shri Rajpal Yadav resolve his liabilities and regain his freedom, dignity, and peace of mind.”For context, in 2010, Yadav had taken a loan of Rs 5 crore from M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his directorial venture Ata Pata Laapata. The film, however, failed at the box office, leaving him in financial trouble. Prior to surrendering, Yadav spoke to Bollywood Hungama about his inability to repay the dues, saying, “Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain. Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta (sir, what to do? I don’t have the money to pay back. Can’t see another way out).”When asked whether he had reached out to colleagues for assistance, the actor responded candidly, “Everyone is on their own in the industry.”
